Let’s Hunt on Product Hunt
Each week I round up the best product on Product Hunt for you to check out. There are dozens of new podcasts, hundreds of new apps, and many more products launched on Product Hunt Each week. It’s hard to keep up, but luckily for you, I spend most my day lurking on the site. There were many more hunts I wanted to include, but these were the top ones I loved.
If you don’t know what Product Hunt is, I wrote a little description to help you understand:
Product Hunt is a service where you can share and discover new products. The site was founded by Ryan Hoover in November of 2013, with funding from Y Combinator. The basis of the site is users submit a fresh podcast, an innovative app, other tech products, or wild gadgets. From there other users upvote the products onto the front page. The whole process feels a lot like Reddit but with a focus towards discovering products within the technology community.
I’m active on Product Hunt as @leonhitchens, where you can follow me!
Let’s hunt together!
Inside VR & AR
Staying on top of VR and AR news is impossible these days. New companies, studios, and startups are working on VR and AR content. The newsletter “Inside VR & AR” is the best source for in-depth coverage on virtual and augment reality. It includes up and coming Kickstarters alongside the well-established players like Oculus working on new games. Industry leaders from founders to investors use the newsletter to stay ahead of the curve on these technologies.
Trello for Slack
Trello is the best way to organize anything that can be made into a list. I use it to plan family meals, collect recipes, and to plan dates. I also use Trello within my company to organize what we are going to publish, what we are working on, and new ideas for articles. The amount of stuff with can organize with Trello is honestly endless. Now you can use Trello within any Slack chat you’re a part of. You can plan to get tacos with the team within Slack, and then add it as a card on Trello under team lunches. It’s effortless and makes Trello and Slack more powerful!
Ghostbot for Burner
We all get unwanted texts, and Ghostbot will talk to those folks and hopefully get rid of them. If it doesn’t, you’ll never know because it will continue to have a conversation with the person. The bot is the best bot-as-personal-firewall I’ve seen! If the bot isn’t doing enough the person who owns the phone can always intervene in the conversation and tell the unwanted contact to leave them alone. It’s a neat idea, also a devious one where it makes me question if I’m ever texting a real person now.
Engage by Twitter
Engage for Twitter is a lot like Facebook Mentions for celebrities or high profile users. The Twitter app doesn’t have a timeline, so you can follow any and everyone and not have to deal with them. The app does have a mentions feed where you can see where verified users replied to you. It also gives users statics on where their followers live and other important info you could use to help sell ads through your Twitter feed. It allows the popular verified users ignore all the normals on Twitter.
Content Marketing Playbook
This free ebook helps anyone building a business or trying to market a new product or startup. It breaks down everything you need to do, and how to grow a website but also get leads from that site. The book talks about putting the customer first, instead of putting the leads before everything else. It’s a short read only clocking in at 32 pages, making it something you can read in an afternoon.
Slack Stats
The fun report sends out a weekly infographic on who you talk to the most, what type of content is shared the most and these stats are sent to your inbox. You can see what emojis were used, what words are commonly misspelled, and what swear words are used the most. It’s a great way to see how you use Slack on different channels, teams, or even what is being worked or talked about.
