PlayStation’s VR will launch in October for $399

The PlayStation VR will launch in October for only $399, but I might note the PlayStation VR kit only comes with the headset, headphones, and cables but not the Move controllers. You’re able to use the PS4’s dual shock controller, but the motion controllers make for a more enjoyable gaming experience.

Still the PlayStation VR is fairly cheaper than the HTC Vive, which costs $799, or the Oculus Rift, which cost $599. The Rift or Vive don’t include the desktop computer to support VR, and the Playstation is the cheapest computer to run a virtual reality game or movie. The PlayStation 4 is $349 for a bundle and add the VR headset the cost only comes to $748 which is less than what the Vive cost. The bundles for the Oculus have run anywhere from $1,200 to $1,600 and require a bit of a setup to get going.

With the VR price wars heating up the other companies will have to set up their game to keep up with what Sony’s doing. On that note, Sony announced there will be 50 games including a VR version of StarWars Battlefront when the headset launches in October.

The PlayStation VR is out before the holiday rush, and likely boost the sales of the PS4 more. You can expect a lot of kids asking for the PlayStation VR headset for the PS4, especially since the Vive and Rift are a lot more expensive and need a gaming rig.

Tell us in the comments below if you’re going to grab a PlayStation VR headset once it hits the store shelves or in many of your cases the online shops.
