New cheaper, more portable Amazon Echo coming soon

The Wall Street Journal is reporting Amazon is working on a smaller, more portable Amazon Echo code named “Fox.” The Amazon Echo has excelled in the smart home with Alexa being able to control lights, Nest thermostats, and other smart home devices. The Echo is also a speaker where you can play music, podcast, or other audio through its speakers.

The Amazon Echo is $179, but for many the device is too expensive and needs to always be near an outlet. The “Fox” would be capable of storing multiple wifi passwords, work at the office or while on vacation. The “Fox” will also feature wireless charging with an internal battery. The voice commands won’t work unless a button is pushed, instead of how the Echo actively listen for all the conversations.

The new device doesn’t have a price yet, but is supposedly coming in the next few weeks. Amazon’s Alexa integration will surely make the new smart speaker a hot seller on Amazon. Tell us if you’d buy a smaller and cheaper Echo in the comments below!
